The Santa Barbara Flyfishers meet at Rincon Beach on most second Saturdays to see what’s biting. New to surf fishing? Contact Joseph Narkevitz— he has six (6) sets of gear to loan and can give you a quick casting lesson and set you up with a surf fly. Other members are usually around to help or just enjoy the morning. Be prepared for the long ramp to the beach, and consider bringing a lightweight folding chair for breaks or to keep your gear off the sand

Once again, the Santa Barbara Flyfishers will host a community film event at the Lobero Theater. This year, we’ll host a screening of “A River Runs Through It" the 1992 film based on a story by Norman Mac lean, directed by Robert Redford and starring Craig Sheffer, Tom Skerritt and Brad Pitt. Just prior to the screening, a distinguished panel of speakers, including Tom Skerritt, John MacLean and others will gather to share insights into the film and its influence on the sport, conservation and the fly fishing industry. Prior to this a VIP reception will be held in the Courtyard of the Lobero, when guests will have the opportunity to meet and greet Tom and the other panel members. At this reception, Tom will preview a documentary film project he is producing, "Rivers Project-First Look with Tom Skerritt". This epic film is a reminder that we shouldn’t marginalize the role art and cinema can play as a catalyst for change in conservation and fly fishing. The Santa Barbara Flyfishers is seeking sponsor support for this community event, our third annual. We have set two levels of sponsorship. Please contact me directly if you have any suggestions for sponsors.
