“A River Runs Through It”

Fishing Gear from the 1930’s

Experience fishing like Tom Skerritt, Brad Pitt and Craig Sheffer did and relive the extraordinary fishing experience of “A River Runs Through It” with authentic gear.

Russ Redmond has restored a 1933 Granger bamboo rod and hand-crafted a custom wood case. Add to it a 1930’s Pflueger reel, flies of the period, and a copy of “A River Runs Through It” and you can imagine fly-fishing just as Reverend Maclean did on the Blackfoot River.

Package includes:

  • Hand restored 1930’s Granger bamboo rod and hand-made wooden case
  • Pflueger reel from the period
  • Fly box with flies popular in the 1920s-1930s tied by club members, including a Bunyan Bug, the mature stonefly Brad Pitt used to catch his trophy brown trout
  • Hard cover copy of “A River Runs Through It”

Signed First Edition of Norman Maclean’ book including “A River Runs Through It”

John Maclean, son of Norman Maclean, has donated a first edition (late printing) of “A River Runs Through It and Other Stories”. (University of Chicago Press, 1976). The first printing was a small print run and it is considered highly collectible.

John will autograph the book and include his essay, “The Little Blue Book”, he wrote about the books publishing history. These essays and memoirs John Maclean has written over the years are what collectively have given us deep understanding of the origins and impact of the book and the movie.

This is a unique and rare compliment to anyone’s collection of memorable books about fly-fishing, nature and family.

Middle Fork of the Salmon River

Boundary Expeditions is the premier outfitter on Idaho’s renowned Middle Fork of the Salmon River. Carving 100 scenic miles through the heart of the Frank Church River of No Return Wilderness, the Middle Fork is celebrated for its “rapid-per-mile” reputation and its thriving population of west slope cutthroat trout.
